Like I do every year, I participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). It’s been good to me in the past, it helped me write Stealing the Wolf Prince, my RONE award winning debut novel. Book 2 in the series, Deceiving the Bandit Lord, was also a NaNoWriMo winner.
So this year I thought to write Book 3 even though Book 2 was only half way through edits. I read books on plotting, I had my notebook ready for character and plot continuity, and I had a title, Haunting the Noble Hunter.
Well, I tell you what, my brain did not like that idea. It stamped a big old NOPE on Book 3 because Book 2 wasn’t done. I tried leaving comments in my draft for details I’d have to fill in later but no. Apparently my brain doesn’t work that way. Lesson learned and moving on. At least I got a great opening to Book 3. Anyone care to read it?
