This is the time of year where everyone makes resolutions or sets goals and I am no exception. Last years goal a little too lofty to obtain so they filter over to this year with a little bit of modifications.
First this year, I’d like to get Stealing the Wolf Prince all polished up and sent to as many publishing houses as I can find. I’d like to get this done before March as that is when my second child is due and there is no way I can do much after the baby’s arrival. I’m good but not that good.
Secondly, I’d like to try to get Thieving the Bandit Lord edited from start to finish. Assuming that Stealing the Wolf Prince is picked up by a publisher, I’d like the second book in the series to be almost ready to go. I am always the optimistic so I think that I can get this accomplished in 2013.
Lastly, I want to finish writing Taming the Pirate King, which is my third intended novel in this series. The idea is already outlined and the story has been started with roughly 10k words written Since I know that NaNoWriMo is out of the question with a 6 month old and a 4 year old, I figure I can use the month of November to finish Taming the Pirate King. It would be more of a National Novel Finishing Month for me (NaNoFiMo?) but I don’t think that anyone can fault me for being cautious with the changes going on in my life.
That’s about it, aside from the usual and obligatory fitness resolution, of course. It might be a tad ambitious but I strongly believe that without goals, people lack a sense of purpose and start to lose themselves. So hopefully I can get all three literary goals accomplished this year but I’d be happy with just making the first if it means publication. My acknowledgement page will be huge too when the book finally comes out. If publication is not in the cards for 2013, I have plans for 2014 already too.
