Progress & Some Whining

Just being honest.

Deceiving the Bandit Lord is in editing!

That’s the progress portion of this post.  To the left is the mock cover I used in 2012 when I wrote the book in the NaNoWriMo.  I’ve read through my draft in hard copy, made notes, I have a plan of attack.  So I’ll be diving into content edits soonish.  Etopia Press would like to see the first 50 pages as soon as I can swing it.  I’d really like to get this whipped together for a summer release.

New Year, New Goals

Stealing the Wolf Prince Release PartyWelcome 2015!

2014 was a good year, I published my first short stories, signed my first book contract, and met a lot of amazing people.  2015 is going to be even better as I gather momentum.  So now to set some goals!

  • Release Stealing the Wolf Prince:  This is happening January 16 folks.  Be ready!!
  • Edit and submit Deceiving the Bandit Lord FKA Thieving the Bandit Lord:  That’s book 2!  The release date will be determined by my publisher but maybe late 2015?
  • A super secret project you’ll have to sign up for my NEWSLETTER to find out details.
  • And, last but not least, NaNoWriMo.  I don’t have a novel planned but maybe book 3?  I have a tentative title Haunting the Noble Hunter.  What do you think?

A Little Check in From Moi!

Old Book

Stealing the Wolf Prince is closer to publication!

Content edits are completed on Stealing the Wolf Prince!  My time with my awesome content editor is over and now I am back to waiting.  Hopefully a copy editor will be emailing me soon so I can start that adventure.

I learned a lot about the editing process so far and I plan on applying what I’ve learned to book two.  Deceiving the Bandit Lord is printed out and I’m ready with my notebook and colored pens!  It shouldn’t take me long to get it cleaned up now that I am more familiar with the process.

Also, with this weekend being a holiday weekend, I plan on working on another short story.  A companion story called Requited.  Find out what Axel thought through the adventure of rescuing Kali.  It’s been fun to write so it should be super fun to read.

Goals for 2013

This is the time of year where everyone makes resolutions or sets goals and I am no exception.  Last years goal a little too lofty to obtain so they filter over to this year with a little bit of modifications.

First this year, I’d like to get Stealing the Wolf Prince all polished up and sent to as many publishing houses as I can find.  I’d like to get this done before March as that is when my second child is due and there is no way I can do much after the baby’s arrival.  I’m good but not that good.

Secondly, I’d like to try to get Thieving the Bandit Lord edited from start to finish.  Assuming that Stealing the Wolf Prince is picked up by a publisher, I’d like the second book in the series to be almost ready to go.  I am always the optimistic so I think that I can get this accomplished in 2013.

Lastly, I want to finish writing Taming the Pirate King, which is my third intended novel in this series.  The idea is already outlined and the story has been started with roughly 10k words written  Since I know that NaNoWriMo is out of the question with a 6 month old and a 4 year old, I figure I can use the month of November to finish Taming the Pirate King.  It would be more of a National Novel Finishing Month for me (NaNoFiMo?) but I don’t think that anyone can fault me for being cautious with the changes going on in my life.

That’s about it, aside from the usual and obligatory fitness resolution, of course.  It might be a tad ambitious but I strongly believe that without goals, people lack a sense of purpose and start to lose themselves.  So hopefully I can get all three literary goals accomplished this year but I’d be happy with just making the first if it means publication.  My acknowledgement page will be huge too when the book finally comes out.  If publication is not in the cards for 2013, I have plans for 2014 already too.

NaNoWriMo Winner

Winner-180x180 Thieving the Bandit Lord is officially a NaNoWriMo winner! Total word count is 50,760 which I reached this afternoon. You can see my daily progress here.  I wrote over half the book this past week!  No small feat I assure you but it’s done.  Now to let it sit for a month so I can clear my head.  It takes a lot of effort to churn out a novel so fast.

I am not sure what is next on the agenda.  I’ve been so focused on writing this month that I don’t know what to do now that I am done writing.  I know tonight I am going to spend some time cuddling with my child and husband.  I am going to get Thai food to celebrate.  Lastly, I am going to watch “Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Slayer”.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope that today finds you well. I hope that you can spend time with people you care about and that you remember the things that you are thankful for.

Today I am thankful to have the day off. I am thankful my 3 year old slept in until 7 am. I am thankful for a husband who loves to cook. I am thankful for my friends and family who don’t quite understand my writing obsession and even though I’m really behind I am even thankful for NaNoWriMo.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
